Day 52 - Wednesday, Oct 29

Walk/Ran 2.18 miles in 35.02 minutes. Burned 194 calories. Kellie and I were discussing this morning how challenging it is to run, even kind of hard, but after wards we feel so much better.

Breakfast:
Green smoothie
Oat bran muffin

Lunch:
Lettuce salad w/ chicken
Toasted Whole grain bread w/ peanut butter
watermelon

Snack:
Handful of grapes

Dinner:
Acorn squash/apple soup
8 grain crisps
1 tomato (fresh [picked from my garden today)
1/2 cantaloupe

A couple of weeks ago I picked all the red and slightly colored tomatoes and thought that would be the end of them because it was going to freeze that night. My tomatoes are up against the side of the garage so they didn't freeze. I now have a dozen or so tomatoes in various stages of orange/red. I ate one tonight. It wasn't quite ripe, but it has been a few weeks since I had a fresh tomato and I was in the mood.

Dennis was going to help a friend after work tonight so I didn't need to worry about dinner for him, so I decided to try out a new recipe. I felt like soup, so I looked through my Vitamix cook book and found a recipe for Butternut/apple soup. Since I had leftover acorn squash from dinner last night I used that instead. It was pretty tasty. Different from anything I have ever had before, but still pretty tasty. I don't know if Dennis would have liked it. It is one I would try again.

3 more days and I can weigh myself. I am so curious to see if I have lost any more weight. I am noticing other differences already besides cinching my belt up tighter. My shirts and pants all feel baggy. My ring used to be pretty snug of my finger, now it slides around. Sometimes I get caught up in the weight loss aspect and forget the real reason I am eating healthy. I have to lower my cholesterol, and I want to avoid all the other age related diseases. This morning on the front cover of the Daily Herald there was an article about Shelley Abegg who found out she had cancer and felt prompted to go on a RAW food diet. Now 10 years later she has no cancer. I keep feeling prompted that I need to go on a RAW diet as well, but it is a difficult thing to do with other family members who aren't willing to. I will just do what I can for now, and try to eat at least 50% raw. I was really excited to check out her website and see that she makes and eat chocolate pudding and chocolate fudge among other yummy things.
