Day 3

Today started out much better because I didn't have a headache when I woke up. I have really enjoyed walking in the mornings again, although I don't particularly like having to get up at 5:00 am to do it, but if I am going to get exercise in, that is the only time I have. Thanks to my good friend Kellie who is willing to suffer with me. It is so much easier when you know that someone is expecting you. Dennis has been getting up with me (which helps) and going to the rec center to swim (his #1 love). I have found that it really helps to plan ahead and so I have tried to do that. Last night when I made a salad for dinner I made an extra one for todays lunch. I just added tomatoes and turkey cubes this morning. I have more energy today than the last two, and tonight I am not near as tired as I was last night.
Walking results:
33:00 total minutes
3.3 mph
17:59 average mile pace
3 sets of 10 crunches
Burned 195 calories (Dennis says that needs to be in the 400 range) . Are you kidding me? Maybe in 9 months from now when I have progressed to running a little.
My buttocks and back of legs are not as sore as they were yesterday. I'm sure sitting at a desk for 8 hours and 2 more hours at home (doing a little side job I have) doesn't help.

Breakfast:
Leftover smoothie from yesterdays lunch (I love quick and easy) It took both Dennis and I to get the lid off.
Oatbran muffin (did I say yummy? It really is!!!)

Snack:
I did feel a bit hungry about 9:30 so I ate:
handful of pistachios
old, dried mangos (been sitting in my desk at work for months) They were very tasty!

Lunch:
Lettuce salad w/ranch dressing (I refuse to do lowfat or fatfree)
1/2 avocado
honeydew
Salsa flavored Rice chips from Costco

Snack:
1 small Pottawatomie plumDinner:
Marinated baked chicken (Lowry's bottled Mexican lime)
wild rice
broccoli & carrots
1/2 tomato

Tips:
1. I seem to always have a bit of leftovers, so I have been putting them in a dish and freezing them for those days when I don't feel like cooking or don't have time to.
2. I always take extra things to work in case I get the snack attacks. I keep a bag of mixed nuts and dried fruit in my desk. I carry a baggie of carrots, dish of cucumber chips, and fruit in season. I want to be prepared, because I really want this to work.
