When I finally drug myself out of bed and showered I went to the fridge to make breakfast and what should be staring me in the face. A DR. PEPPER!!!! Anyone that knows me, knows that has been my favorite drink of all time. It has been hard to quit. The temptation to drink it was not as strong as it could have been, but I don't need or want that kind of temptation in my house. Put any other kind of soda there and it wouldn't faze me, but not THAT! It wasn't there last night when I was last in the fridge, so Dennis must have put it there sometime after I went to bed. And then to make matters worse, he comes home from church and drinks it in front of me with his lunch which he had to snarf down to get to his Home Teaching appointment on time and gives me a kiss with DR PEPPER breath. How cruel!!! I know he didn't do it intentionally, but I will have to mention it to him to keep Dr. Pepper's hidden if they are ever in the house. He is a Pepsi man and I see that in the fridge all the time. No problemo!
Here is a picture of the plums I put in the fruit dryer yesterday morning. They look like prunes. That should keep me regular this winter. I also found red grapes at the new Sunshine Market yesterday for .59/lb. I bought a bag and brought them home, took them off the stems and froze them. From past experience, they are such a delicious sweet treat. Somehow the freezing process makes them more sweeter. I will enjoy those along with the dried fruit this winter when all the fresh is gone. I am so grateful for all this "modern" technology.
Breakfast:
Yogurt, peaches, granola (yummy)
Lunch:
Lettuce salad (I added yellow bell peppers and guacamole today - very nice addition)
Multigrain tortilla chips with Mango Salsa
Snack:
2 dried plums (had to test them - tasted a lot like prunes)
Dinner:
Mashed Potatoes w/ small pat of butter
small piece of Pork roast
Cooked carrots and broccoli
I was a bit worried about dinner tonight because it was my first meal at someone else's home. Our family gets together one Sunday month for dinner and Family Home Evening. I volunteered to bring the vegetable so I knew for sure I would have at least one thing to eat. We had to leave before dessert was served so I didn't have to sit and watch everyone eat the marshmallow covered brownies. But I did real good. Two weeks down and the rest of my life to go. I have printed a lot of healthy dessert type recipes, but have yet to make any of them. Most of them call for ingredients I've never heard of. I looked for them at Sunshine Market and even asked an employee but he had no clue and couldn't find anyone else to help me either. He didn't try really hard though. I don't think I will shop there much. I really like the service and knowledge of the staff at Good Earth. I'm sure they will help me find what I am looking for.
