Day 225 - Thursday, April 23

I needed a break from the cellerciser and it was so nice and beautiful this morning, and it was my day off, so I decided it was time to work on that goal of running a 5k. I really thought I could do better than I did, but I walk/ran the Fireman 5k course in 45 minutes. That's like 15 minute miles. Pathetic!!! But it is a start. I really need to get the breathing thing down because that is my biggest problem. I feel like I am going to hyperventilate or something. Half way through my left knee does what it does most of the time when I run, and that is it feels like it is filling up with fluid and gets tight and heavy feeling and hurts. I decided that I still needed to do some running and try to work it out. It didn't get better, but it also didn't get any worse. I just came home and iced it and after a few hours it felt good as new.

Pre Breakfast:
Carrot/apple/ginger juice

Breakfast:
Green smoothie
Oatbran muffin

Lunch:
Subway sandwich
1 orange
Amanda and I shared a $5.00 Subway. She had my meat put on her half and extra veggies put on my half. It was SOOOOOOOOOOO good. It has been a long time since I ate out.

Dinner:
Brown rice covered with zucchini and carrots
Lettuce salad
Strawberries
1 pumpkin chocolate chip cookie

Tonight was the BYU stake leadership closing social. They had food from Rumbi. I have never eaten at Rumbi before and it was quite good. After looking at all the delicious desserts people had brought, I gave in and took a pumpkin cookie. I felt it was fairly healthy (not counting white sugar, white flour and chocolate chips), but hey, at least I didn't go for any of the ooey, gooey chocolate desserts. Usually I don't think about dessert because I know that I can go home and have my healthy favorite: blueberries and granola in yogurt, but I decided about a week ago to not eat any dairy (except butter) for about a month and see if I can get rid of this congestion that has plagued me for the past 2 1/2 months. I probably need to go to the health food store and buy soy yogurt, it is just pricey.
