Lindon Days Fun Run

I have been terrible at keeping this blog up. It just seems that every day is pretty much the same. I pretty much eat the same things for breakfast and lunch. Dinner's are harder. It is usually easy to come up with plenty of veggies to eat and carbs also, but getting enough protein is a challenge. Add in the factor that I am back in the mode of not liking to cook and that doesn't help.

I lost another 2 pounds at the August 1st weigh in. I am now below 160 and that feels really good. I really wanted to break that 160 mark. Now I can look forward to breaking the 150 mark. At 1-2 pounds per month I figure that may happen around Christmas. I could probably loose a little faster if I quite eating so late at night, but with Dennis' work schedule, he doesn't get home most nights until 7:00 or 8:00pm. I don't like to eat alone nor make him eat alone, so I chose to go the slow route. Besides, maybe the slower I loose, the better chance I have of letting my skin catch up with the weight loss (I have lots of sagging skin/wrinkles which I don't care for AT ALL - my mother warned me years ago that this is what would happen if I lost weight in my older years).

Yesterday I ran my second fun run of the year. I ran/walked the Lindon Days 5k and felt really good about it since I have not been training at all (other than the exercises/jogging I do on the mini tramp). I finished in 35:23. I was amazed to find out that I took 1st place in the female 50-60 year old category. The second place finisher in that age group was just behind me and even though I didn't know it at the time, it was my goal to not let her pass me. If I want to improve my time I need to get out and train. One good thing- my knees did not bother me at all this time. I did feel a strain in my groin, but didn't bother me any the rest of the day like my knees used to do.
