Satruday, August 22

I just love this time of year. Fresh garden fruits and veggies. I have been eating fresh cucumbers, tomatoes (regular and a variety of cherry type), zucchini, carrots, Anaheim and bell peppers. Our plum tree is now done producing, the apple tree is ready to pick the one variety (the red delicious will be ready in late September) and the peach tree will soon be ripe. My dad is always so kind and generous and shares his bounteous harvest with his family each year. We have enjoyed apples, peaches, tomatoes, cabbage, cantaloupe, watermelon and honeydew. I have the best dad in the whole world. He works so hard to plant, tend, weed, water, fertilize and pick the produce, then shares it so freely with others. I am also grateful to my wonderful mom who helps him with a lot of these chores, and who taught me how to can, freeze and dry all these wonderful goodies. After doing peaches and tomatoes (both from my dad) my jars are all full. I have to go buy more jars (don't know where I will put them as the "bottle goods" section is completely full. I have spaghetti sauce sitting in my fridge waiting jars.

Summertime is a dieters paradise. I am happy to say that I don't crave sweets anymore and haven't for many months. I just head to the fresh fruit and eat my heart out. SO YUMMY!!!!
