Did you know that:
60% of the human body is water? The brain is composed of 70% water, and the lungs are nearly 90% water.
75% of Americans are chronically dehydrated.
In many Americans, the thirst mechanism is so weak that it is mistaken for hunger? (Could that be you or your child)
Even MILD dehydration will slow down one's metabolism.
One glass of water will shut down midnight hunger pains.
Lack of water, the #1 trigger for daytime fatigue.
A mere 2% drop in body water can trigger fuzzy short-term memory, trouble with basic math, and difficulty focusing on the computer screen or on a printed page.
Drinking enough water daily decreases the risk of colon cancer by 45%, plus it can slash the risk of breast cancer by 79%, and one is 50% less likely to develop bladder cancer.
Are you drinking enough water?
How much should you drink. Half your body weight in ounces as a minimum.
A 200 pound person should drink 100 ounces.
A 150 pound person should drink 75 ounces.
Water flushes out toxins from your body and also flushes out fat cells that are being burned off during exercise.
What kind of water should you drink? There is a lot of talk about this one. The one consensus is that tap water is NOT HEALTHY, with all the things like chlorine they treat the water with. Some examples of other ways to get your water are:
Distilled
R/O Reverse Osmosis (This is what we use at our house)
Kangen Water
Alkiline Water
Bottled water - beware of the source it comes from: many bottled water companies just use plain ordinary tap water. Here is a website if you are interested in reading more about bottled water
I find the only way I can get enough water in a day is to not drink much of anything else. I noticed that by not drinking those extra calories that are in other forms of liquid (juice, milk, soda), it has been very beneficial to weight loss. I don't feel deprived not drinking those other things because I do drink fresh squeezed carrot/apple juice or fresh squeezed grapefruit or orange juice most every morning. I also have a green smoothie most everyday so I just don't miss drinking all those other types of drinks. I absolutely love water! I hope you will too.
