I love the Summer

I am having so much fun with my garden this year. At first it was frustrating because some seeds did not grow and I had to replant, and one garden bed gets watered by the neighbors sprinklers and at one time was getting way too much water. Now some things like the squash, melons and cantaloupes are looking really good. So far this year I have harvested and greatly enjoyed: lettuce, swiss chard, beets, turnips, green onions, radishes, strawberries, zucchini and I had the first tomato just a few days ago (today I get to eat the second tomato). I love being outdoors and don't even mind plucking the weeds. Thanks heavens for black plastic, which keeps the weeding to a minimum. About half the garden is under black plastic and the other half is not, but as long as I check the half without every other day or so, and pick the weeds when they are small it is easy to keep us with. I am looking forward to making lots of new dishes this summer when the harvest picks up.

Tip for the day: Believe in yourself. If you want to do something, then go for it and BELIEVE IN YOURSELF that you can do it. (Like changing the way you eat to a healthy eating plan, start an exercise program, or get outside and enjoy the fresh air, just be careful of getting too much sun).
