This is the first time in my life that I have completed an entire year of firsts and am starting on a year of seconds. This was my "2nd" Sugarfree Halloween. The only thing that could top that was knowing how much weight I have lost in the past year. I got on the scales yesterday because I knew this weekend would be crazy with family in town. I was so unprepared for what I saw. 8 pounds down. I went from 150 on October 1st to 142 on Oct 30. I don't think I would have lost that much without the aid of the "FLU". I haven't felt like eating at all this entire week and have had to force myself just to keep up some strength. Then to top it all off, on Thursday night something I ate gave me diarrhea. Anyway, I am super excited. The size 12 jeans I bought a few months ago are now getting baggy on me. I have not been in a size 10 pant since I was about 12 years old. I weigh as much now as I did when I first met Dennis. What a wild roller coaster the last 30 plus years have been.
I have found it hard to eat healthy when nothing sounds good and I don't feel like eating. I have only had a lettuce salad twice in the last week. I have had a few green smoothies and lots of soup, but I keep telling myself that the most important thing is to get better and gain back my strength, while trying to eat as healthy as possible. Still no white sugar or flour, just been eating less "raw".
I really miss the garden. I miss the fresh cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, melons, all of it. There just seems to be less veggies to eat. I know the stores still carry a variety, but they just don't taste the same as "Fresh Picked."
Here are some tips I have read about to avoid the flu....(and believe me, you don't want to catch this nasty stuff).........
The flu germs can live in your nose and/or throat for up to 5 days
1. Keep your hands away from your face and wash them OFTEN
2. Gargle with salt water every morning and evening
3. Swab your nostrils every morning and evening with salt water Or better yet, use a Neti Pot.
4. Exercise daily to keep the toxins moving AND
5. Drink plenty of water to flush the toxins out of your body
6. Get plenty of rest and HAVE A POSITIVE ATTITUDE
